A.H.T.D ASIA LEG 2026 / CONTENT IDEAS
STRANGELOOP STUDIOS

For this last leg of the After Hours Til Dawn Tour, we imagined an injection of visuals into the current narrative, drawing on some of the aesthetics we explored in the recent IMAG updates, and focusing on what will translate most powerfully to the existing design.

The show already has a coherent narrative and aesthetic, which has evolved over time. The audience follows Abel on the final chapter of this AHTD journey: the updated robot statue, the crumbling set pieces, and the flow of the dancers.

We propose layering in some additional moments of visual impact, expanding on the visual language we began exploring with the IMAG effects for the EU leg. The following slides provide some ideas for content and additional IMAG treatments.

1 / DIRECTION

Most of the current content functions as a set extension, working to create depth, rather than just function as a flat wall. We want to remain in that realm, focusing on looks that create a visual mirror to the long catwalk extending away from the screen.

We drew on 3 of our favorite directorial references that felt aligned with the current aesthetic, and appropriate for pushing further in that direction: Andrei Tarkovsky, Mamoru Oshii, and Hideaki Anno.

The idea is to create some moments of surrealist set extension, build dramatic tension, and selectively provide big bursts of impact.

1 / DIRECTION / REFERENCES

THREE REFERENCES.

HIDEAKI ANNO

NEON GENESIS EVANGELION
  • Brash, intense explosive moments.
  • High-contrast cel shading.

ANDREI TARKOVSKY

THE SACRIFICE
  • Deliberate but tense pacing.
  • Scale and operatic drama.

MAMORU OSHII

ANGEL'S EGG
  • Surrealist set extensions.
  • Abstract, graphical 3D space.
2 / IMAG FX

IMAG FX.

Real-time Notch blocks running on camera feed.

CROSS FLARE

A cruciform flare blows the frame out on the hit. He drops to silhouette inside it.

TURBULENT REFLECTION

He stands on black water. The reflection below breaks into rings spreading out from his feet.

CEL-SHADE

Line and halftone only. The city behind him drops to flat black.

CONTOUR SCAN

Topographic contours track the figure, luminance only.

HALATION MASS

Highlights bloom until the figure reads as relief.

HEAT SHIMMER

Dry mirage distortion across the feed.

3 / CONTENT

CONTENT.

Sequence ideas for the Asia run.

INK

Zero-gravity rubble and flickering sources of light and energy.

HOLD

A god-like figure emerges from the bottom of the frame with energy pouring from its eyes, rubble ascending in zero gravity.

SMEAR

Eruption of cosmic energy from a central schism in space and time.

THE RING

A robotic angel deity surrounded by a halo of bodies.

STATUE

A carved face the height of the skyline opens its eye over the city.

VORTEX

A column of red light drills into the city and the cloud turns around it.

RAYS

A single figure lifts off the city. Rays travel out from the body to the frame edge.

ASCENT

The figure rises inside a white column. The ground falls away as a disc of light.

THE BODY

The towers rearrange into a ribcage around a lit spine, and the structure rises.

THE CROWD

The crowd settles into the ground and becomes the landscape. Drained of color, flat light, nothing moving.

ASHFALL

White ash falls over the ruin and does not stop. Nothing left standing.

4 / SCOPE / OPEN

  • Sequences in the reference language
  • Cut to specific songs
  • Length and volume still open

CONTENT

  • New screen sequences for the last leg
